Wake up, teenagers! Know your skincare - By Navya Bhamidipati

Everyday, there’s so many teenagers that apply a ton of cosmetics on their body. Right from their face wash to a whole sophisticated makeup routine. Most parents, like mine, restrict the amount of make-up their kid is allowed to put at least until their teens. Up till then, we all grow up watching people put on make- up and change their look completely and most of us want to do all of it ourselves.

The ingredients in the products, their chemical composition… who's going to have time to read things like that? Besides, if it’s being sold, I’m sure it must be safe. Right? Wrong.

Most of us don’t pay attention to the labels of skincare products but little do we know that every time we make a careless purchase we’re reducing the time we have left bit by bit.

In recent times, a lot of adults have started to become aware of things like this. However, most teenagers still remain oblivious or choose to ignore things like this because for them that instantaneous beauty is of utmost importance. They probably don’t understand the magnitude of what they’re getting themselves into.

Unfortunately, the harmful side effects are not limited to make-up. Even when we apply something as common as moisturiser on our skin, we are risking a lot. Some moisturisers contain chemicals that, if used for a long time, lead to breast cancer and even neurological disorders! Knowing what’s on the labels is extremely important for all of us.

It is essential for more people to start becoming aware of just how dangerous these chemicals in cosmetics are. This awareness is going to help people a long way. Even to the extent where one’s life is saved!
