Yoga and Turmeric-Health and beauty inside & outside

Yoga and Turmeric have recently gained popularity the world over(especially during the Covid-19 pandemic with Turmeric lattes and pranayama being the top contenders in the list of effective precautionary measures against the new virus). In India, both have held a special status for thousands of years.

Contrary to popular belief, Yoga is not just another form of exercise. Rather, It focuses on holistic healing--that is, physical, emotional and mental harmony to balance the body. One can maximize the healing potential of Yoga by following an Ayurvedic diet and lifestyle which focuses on restoring balance in the body in order to maintain the continuous flow of vital energy or prana.

Yoga has always been used for its therapeutic qualities just like Ayurveda. When a condition is treated with both yoga and Ayurveda (both of which work on the mind as well as the body), it leads to a state of complete well-being and balance. In fact, traditional Yoga has always rested on a special yogic diet along with special herbs to work at both physical and mental levels. They are useful for both disease treatment and disease prevention, for increased vitality, for rejuvenation, and for awakening all our higher faculties. Turmeric is one such herb and is used for cooling and cleansing of the blood, tissues and internal organs.

Turmeric (Curcuma longa) or Haridra is a part of many Ayurvedic formulations and is also used by itself as medicine, both for internal and external application. It has been recognized by Yoga and Ayurveda as a 'superfood' or the 'golden herb' for thousands of years.

Dr David Frawley, an American Ayurveda and Yoga practitioner says,   “If I had only a single herb to depend upon for all possible health and dietary needs, I would without hesitation choose the Indian spice turmeric.”

Similar to Yoga, Turmeric has multiple benefits taken internally or used externally. It is a proven anti-allergic, carminative, diuretic, analgesic, anti-spasmodic, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, and anthelmintic (anti-worm).

External application of turmeric stops pain and swelling, heals wounds, and treats many skin diseases ranging from acne to eczema to leprosy. It boosts your immunity. Turmeric is a powerful anti-oxidant  and fights against accelerated aging and almost all chronic diseases including atherosclerosis, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, cataracts, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Turmerones and ar-turmerones, two natural antioxidants found in turmeric penetrate deep into the cells and work on skin issues along with the equally beneficial carrier oils thus protecting, nourishing and healing it.

The Parama Naturals range of Turmeric-powered oils for the face and body have been created to harness the power of this wonder spice, turmeric, and help to heal and protect your skin externally and internally.

The Turmeric Essential Oil by Parama Naturals heals on the outside as well as the inside. External application with a carrier oil clarifies the skin. It can even be used for oral care with oil-pulling or gargling.

When used for aromatherapy or in your bath, it uplifts your mood and brings a sense of peace and calm.

Overall, turmeric helps to bring the mind & body into harmony, in the true essence of Yoga!
