ParamaTalks with Sajida Bagwan - How Sports skills turn into Life skills

Are all of us are meant to be sports-persons?

No!

But do we need to bring a little bit of sport into each of our own lives?

Yes!

Apart from being a sense of nationalistic pride and collective highs, pursuit of a game or sports in general teaches us many life's lessons, as highlighted by Sajid Bagwan, past national basketball champion, coach, sports counsellor-

1. Losing is not the end of the world

2. Always look ahead. Get set for the new game

3. Don’t carry issues from one game forward to the next

4. When you win, you should be humble

5. Respect the opponent

6. Discipline and timeliness are musts for getting better planned

7. Building stamina is important

8. Play is a big destressor!

Some of the most critical of all of these is the ability to cope with failure.

To pick oneself up.

To overcome challenges.

To have a can-do attitude.

This extends to other all areas in life, especially academics, school or college, job, friends, personal relationships...
